Practical Information & Use of the Glowbus® Dewdrop

Premium Materials for Long-Lasting Durability

Crafted from high-grade corten steel (weathering steel), the Glowbus® Dewdrop is built to stand the test of time. Unlike ordinary steel, corten develops a dense, protective rust layer that shields it from the elements—extending its lifespan by up to eight times. This distinctive patina not only enhances the fire sculpture's visual appeal with a rich, earthy hue but also eliminates the need for coatings or paints that degrade over time.

All-Weather Performance

From extreme cold to intense heat, the Glowbus® Dewdrop is engineered to endure. It can effortlessly withstand temperatures ranging from -1000°C (-1768°F) to 1000°C (1832°F). Its solid construction and low center of gravity make it resilient in stormy conditions, including wind speeds up to 200 km/h (125 mph). No matter the season or weather, your Dewdrop remains a reliable, functional centerpiece.

Thoughtful Placement Options

Due to its substantial weight, positioning your Glowbus® Dewdrop is best done with planning:

  • Dewdrop M: 150 kg (330 lb)
  • Dewdrop L: 220 kg (485 lb)
  • Dewdrop XL: 425 kg (937 lb)

The M and L models can be gently rolled on their side for relocation. However, the Dewdrop XL typically requires mechanical assistance for safe placement. The removable ash plate simplifies cleaning without altering the overall design.

Managing the Rusting Process

While corten steel is known for its attractive weathered finish, the rusting process may temporarily stain delicate surfaces, especially in wet conditions. To prevent surface discolouration:

  • Place the Dewdrop on sand, gravel, or grass
  • Avoid installing directly on porous stone, tiles, or wood decking during the early oxidation phase

These precautions will help maintain both the Dewdrop’s aesthetic and the integrity of surrounding surfaces.

Minimal Maintenance, Maximum Enjoyment

The Glowbus® Dewdrop is designed for low-maintenance outdoor living. The only care required is the occasional removal of ash if the fire sculpture will remain unused for extended periods. No sealing, painting, or additional treatments are necessary—just simple enjoyment season after season.
